| Restoration | Ah, the 1980's.... When
spec houses went up quickly and big blank windows conveyed affluence. Now their time is about up. This home suffered from a poor entry door system. The door frame was disappearing fast due to lack of flashing and sealants between the trims and the stucco. as water ran down the joint it was very efficiently siphoned in. So in addition to being ugly, it was also doomed to be compost. there was already considerable damage to the floor framing under the door jamb. |

Mill, along with our friend and inspirationist Denise Easton, designed
a new entry door pair with mated windows above, and a short porch roof
with columns to make an uncomfortable stoop into a welcoming, balanced
entrance. All fabrication took place in our shop in the fall of '07.
Installation in December meant a storm shelter was in order. It was
quickly dubbed "The Hut" and our roofers and painters appreciated it
during the rainy weather. In this video, we unveil the project. Just in
time for the client's New Year's Eve. Enjoy! Music by Ruthie Dornfield's American Cafe Orchestra A new window will open for our: YouTubeVideo |
